Can you help Bloom?

25 August 2015

EG in Bloom are continually looking for ways of raising funds to continue the work we do around the town and we are asking for the public’s help.

We would like to do a raffle/tombola at this year’s presentation evening in September and at the town fair in December, but with great prizes. All we have to do is find some great prizes!!

If you think you could donate a prize that will help us raise funds, then please get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.

Prizes could vary from a bottle of champagne or a hamper to a massage or a donation of your time to walk the dog or do some gardening. The choice is yours.

Volunteers needed to help East Grinstead bloom

23 June 2015

East Grinstead in Bloom are looking for the public to help the town win GOLD in this years “In Bloom” competition due to be judged on Tuesday 14th July. Secretary Samantha Baldery said “Everyone can do their bit from tidying their front gardens, to picking up litter in the street or even helping out at one of our upcoming working partys. Every pair of hands helps make a difference to the town”.

As East Grinstead in Bloom goes from strength to strength and hopes to improve on last years success in the South & South East in Bloom competition, there are some volunteer vacancies on the committee.

Fundraising Officer – We are looking for someone who can attend committee meetings once a month and help the committee raise funds to support the work we do. The person must be able to use their initiative and be able to seek out funding opportunities as well as have experience of obtaining funding for other causes.

Publicity/Press Officer – We are looking for someone who can attend committee meetings once a month and help the committee promote the activities we do through a variety of mediums including Facebook, twitter, local press, our website and the internet. The person must be able to use their initiative and make use of all available resources.

Volunteer Recruitment Officer – We are looking for someone who can help us increase our volunteer numbers around the town so we can make even more of a difference to peoples lives in East Grinstead. This person would help coordinate communications to our volunteers regarding Working Party dates and any upcoming events. We would expect this person to attend our monthly committee meetings and provide an update on volunteer recruitment.

Schools Liason Officer – We are looking for someone who can help promote Bloom within the local schools and engage the schools with gardening projects. This is a rewarding role as some of the local pupils have gone on to win national gardening awards from the RHS as a result of schools promoting gardening. It would be expected for this person to attend committee meetings once a month. They would also be responsible for an special schools projects.

Team Photographer – We are looking for a capable person to take photos at Working Parties and events we do throughout the year then ensure the photos are submitted to the team for use in press releases, our website and social media. The person does not need to attend committee meetings every month, but it is expected they would attend every now and again.

If you do, EG in Bloom are interested in these. We are looking for nominations for wonderful gardens around the town for this years garden competition.

So get your nominations to us. Closing date to be confirmed, but it will be mid July.

You can even nominate your own garden if you like!!

All we need to the address and if you can, the owners name so we can contact them. Please send nominations by email info@eastgrinsteadinbloom.org.uk or leave a message on 01342 322322.
